There are differences of opinion from most Americans and governmental officials in regard to the new Arizona law (SB 1070) that enables the state of Arizona to protect its borders from illegals entering the country and aids in the fight against drugs and terrorism.
Shortly after Gov. Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law, opponents sprang into action calling for sanctions against the state of Arizona both economically and legislatively, calling the law an outrage against a race of people which would leave a pandoras box to open for racial profiling. Yes, our country must protect itself against anyone who comes across our borders illegally, however, the United States provides the opportunity for everyone to properly enter our country and become nationalized citizens. The beauty of our Constitution is that everyone be treated equally and with respect.
The borders of the United States are at risk because of drugs and terrorism. Everyday, lives are destroyed in order to smuggle deadly drugs like heroin, cocaine and prescription medication into our country. Opium which is the base for heroin has become more potent and cheaper to purchase causing the death of thousands of drug addicts and innocent lives. Drug cartels throughout the world are making billions of dollars from smuggling illegal drugs and weapons into the United States making our country more vulnerable for terrorism.
“We cannot sacrifice our safety to the murderous greed of drug cartels,” Brewer said. “We cannot stand idly by as drophouses, kidnappings and violence compromise our quality of life.”
There is a bigger picture that has to be acknowledged and dealt with. Whether you agree or disagree with SB 1070, one has to know that the war on drugs and terrorism is the catalyst of the new immigration law set forth in Arizona. Our borders have to be protected against the smuggling of drugs and terrorism for the sake of our country and its citizens. The border war on drugs and terrorism must be addressed and handled before anymore innocent lives are destroyed.
Everytime drugs are purchased the drug cartel wins and money is given to terrorist who want to destroy our great country. It is time to take a stand and fight for the sanctity of life and well being.
